Job Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high performing Inventory Accounting team
- Own the review over: the monthly close process for inventory, related inventory variance and accrual accounts, and shipping/freight expense; within an agile, data rich environment
- Partner with the Financial Systems, IT, Operations, and Engineering teams to design and implement process and system updates in support of new initiatives with an impact to inventory
- Lead system and process optimization projects within the overall procure-to-pay process, in partnership with the AP & IT teams, to drive operational efficiencies and advance our mission to make the shift from a transactional to a transformational Finance organization
- Prepare analyses, schedules, and presentations related to Inventory to support the audit, tax filings and for presentation internally as well as at the Audit Committee & Board level
- Work closely with AP to monitor goods received not invoiced for aged items and identification of upstream process improvement opportunities
- Partner with Warehouse Operations on the continual execution of the cycle count process for inventory at our distribution centers, including coordination with internal and external auditors
- Own the continual development and execution of control structures for inventory accounting in accordance with SOX 404 requirements; serve as a thought partner for Operations, Merchandising, and other teams on their control structures
- Serve as a champion of our rich financial datasets and develop meaningful business insights and reporting for management
Job Requirements
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or relevant field), a CPA, and 8+ years combined of experience at at large accounting firm and/or with a large retail/eCommerce company
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- You have prior experience with ERP / IT system implementations
- You are familiar with supply chain operations, inventory accounting, and the procure-to-pay process
- You are proficient in Excel, Netsuite would be a plus
- You have an aptitude for working with large sets of data and are a systems wizard
- You have an analytical mind and are always thinking of ways to streamline and improve processes or problems
- You have strong organizational and detail-orientation skills and the ability to handle multiple competing tasks simultaneously
- You are a strong communicator and leader who enjoys coaching, mentoring and developing others
- You have strong technical accounting skills and a detailed understanding of current GAAP standards
- You are comfortable leading in ambiguity and thrive in a feedback-rich environment
