School Social Worker (LMSW)

Location: New York, NY

Salary: Commensurate with experience

An established school network is seeking a Licensed Master Social Worker to join their growing team of healthcare professionals. The LMSW will perform psychosocial assessments and provide ongoing direct social work services to developmentally disabled students. The LMSW will also participate in formulating and implementing discharge plans, identifying unmet psychosocial needs and will develop programs to address those needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and provide high-quality counseling services to students with IEPs and at-risk students with a focus on supporting meeting classroom goals
  • Write session notes, progress reports, and goals with mandated counseling services
  • Provide teachers and staff with strategies and interventions for struggling students
  • Create, implement and track positive behavior intervention plans using functional behavior assessments and evidence-based practices
  • Diligently work to align social, emotional, and behavioral supports with the school mission
  • Receive ongoing feedback and support from administration and instructional leaders
  • Attend weekly meetings, respond to incoming teacher referrals, monitor designated plans, implement short-term interventions and determine who is in need of an evaluation
  • Assist the Dean of Students and other staff in providing crisis support, as needed
  • Collaborate with the school’s leadership team and other committees to support all students in achieving high standards
  • Regularly communicate with parents, teachers, and other staff to provide coordinated support

Job Requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work
  • An active social work license in the state of NY
  • 1+ years of experience working with the pediatric population preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
