About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Director of Nursing for their skilled Nursing and Sub-Acute Facility to join their team located in Hoboken, New Jersey. This position involves supporting and promoting the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing. The ideal candidate will promote good public relations and provide leadership in clinical conferences/ residential care.
The annual base salary starts at $140,000 to $180,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Responsibilities
- Ensures communication between shifts to promote continuity of resident care
- Supervises and evaluate the nursing care plan and all clinical functions on unit
- Ensures that documentation for all newly admitted or re-admitted residents are completed timely as per policy
- Investigates thoroughly all incident/accident, allegations of abuse, neglect or mistreatment and submits reports in a timely manner to the Assistant Director of Nursing
- Work closely with Attending Physicians as the leader of the team, to ensure that residents receive optimal care and treatment
- Works with Nursing Supervisors to ensure follow through on procedures, incidents, accidents, Pharmacy review issues etc.
- Knows current condition and progress of all patients on unit
- Actively participates in departmental meetings, Morning Report and other meetings as necessary
- Coordinates facility wide nursing staffing function as assigned and adheres to budgeted staffing complement
- Evaluates the performance of nursing personnel on the unit including attendance reviews and exact disciplinary action as needed
- Participates in and/or deliver approved in-service programs to include competency evaluation of nursing staff
- Conducts regularly scheduled nursing meetings for problem solving and information exchange and submits agenda and minutes to Nursing Administration
- Quality resident care is provided including care of environment, e.g. tub room, linen room, medication room, etc.
- Adequate staffing is provided on a 24 hour basis
- Charts and nursing care plans are audited and all records pertaining to resident care, e.g. medication record, M.D. orders and weights are accurate, timely and complete
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
Requirements
- BSN required, MSN preferred
- Current NJ license to practice profession of registered nurse
- Minimum of 7-10 years experience in a supervisory capacity
- Knowledge of and experience with Federal and State requirements
- Experience with labor unions
