About the Opportunity
Our client is a nonprofit healthcare organization that is actively searching for a Pediatric Nurse Manager to join their team in Bronxville, New York. The role will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of nursing care in the pediatric unit or department. This leadership position ensures the provision of safe, high-quality care for pediatric patients and supports the professional development of the nursing staff. The Nurse Manager will work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes, improve workflows, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for pediatric care.
The annual base salary range is $115,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the pediatric nursing department.
- Ensure that patient care is delivered in accordance with established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor patient outcomes and work with the team to implement strategies for continuous improvement in care delivery.
- Serve as a clinical resource for pediatric nursing staff, providing guidance and support on complex patient care issues.
- Address patient care concerns, complaints, or issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of registered nurses, nursing assistants, and support staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for staff training and development.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and teamwork.
- Assist in recruitment, hiring, and retention of nursing staff.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and institutional regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, HIPAA, CDC guidelines).
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Monitor and analyze clinical data to identify trends and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based best practices.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families.
- Support families by providing education on treatment plans, care instructions, and available resources
- Ensure that care is patient-centered and culturally competent, with an emphasis on positive outcomes for children and families
- Assist with the management of the pediatric nursing unit’s budget, including staffing, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure the efficient allocation of resources to meet the needs of the pediatric unit
- Work with hospital administration to assess and adjust staffing levels based on patient census and acuity
- Communicate effectively with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospital leadership
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care rounds, and committees as needed
- Serve as a liaison between the pediatric nursing team and other hospital departments
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related advanced degree preferred
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- At least 3 years of nurse management experience
- At least 2 years of pediatric experience
- At least 5 years of nursing experience
