About the Opportunity
We’re partnered with the CFO of a top-performing firm in the quantitative sector, known for attracting some of the brightest minds in the industry. After a decade of strong performance, they are expanding and seeking a Senior Fund Accountant in Stamford, Connecticut to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting for the fund. This role requires specialized knowledge of financial products, including derivatives, options, and complex trading strategies used in quantitative investing. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the fund’s portfolio managers, risk teams, and external service providers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The annual base salary range is $140,000 to $180,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting:
- Prepare financial statements and ensure GAAP/IFRS compliance.
- Reconcile portfolio transactions and valuations.
- Monitor NAV calculations and verify asset/liability recognition.
- Generate performance reports and attribution analysis.
Transaction & Investment Analysis:
- Ensure accurate reporting of trades, derivatives, and securities.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers on position and P&L reporting.
- Review and assess valuations of illiquid assets.
Fund & Investor Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with fund agreements and regulations.
- Review fund expenses and performance fees.
- Coordinate with auditors, administrators, and tax professionals.
Risk & Portfolio Management:
- Analyze risk exposure and monitor risk models.
- Track liquidity, leverage, and collateral requirements.
- Oversee fund exposures, margin calls, and credit facilities.
Audit & Tax Support:
- Provide documentation for audits and ensure financial statement accuracy.
- Support tax filings and investor tax reporting.
Investor & Fund Communications:
- Prepare investor reports and capital account statements.
- Respond to investor inquiries and due diligence requests.
- Assist in preparing RFPs and fund-related communications.
Operational Improvements:
- Implement process efficiencies and automation.
- Develop fund accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Strengthen internal controls for financial integrity.
Ad-Hoc Projects:
- Support strategic initiatives and new product launches.
- Assist senior management with special projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-9 years of experience in fund accounting, corporate accounting at a fund, or audit of funds
- CPA or CFA is preferred
