Urology Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our client’s Urology Surgery team in Brooklyn, NY. This position offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with leading urologists in providing exceptional patient care in both preoperative and postoperative settings. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in urology, possess excellent surgical skills, and be committed to delivering compassionate and patient-centered care.

The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical examinations
  • Collaborate with urologists to determine the appropriateness of surgical interventions
  • Educate patients on surgical procedures, potential risks, and postoperative care
  • Assist urologists during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile and safe environment
  • Manage intraoperative patient care, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications as needed
  • Provide support in the coordination of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Monitor and manage patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or recovery room
  • Assess and address postoperative complications or concerns promptly
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement comprehensive postoperative care plans
  • Educate patients on postoperative care instructions, medications, and potential side effects
  • Provide information on lifestyle modifications and preventive measures to promote optimal urological health
  • Work collaboratively with urologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative notes, and postoperative care documentation
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and documentation standards

Job Requirements

  • Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Certification in urology or a related field is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in urology, surgery, or a first assist is required
  • Must speak Spanish or Russian fluently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
