About the Opportunity:
The Certified Child Life Specialist at Mission Bay provides comprehensive care, supporting children's emotional, developmental, and educational needs during their hospital stay. This full-time contract position requires expertise in therapeutic play, preparation for medical procedures, and family education to help ease fears and anxiety. The specialist works collaboratively with the medical team to ensure optimal care.
The estimated base pay for these positions is $47.30 to $55.90 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and create individualized care plans.
- Provide therapeutic play and educational interventions based on age and developmental stage.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including pediatricians and nurses, to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor and document patient progress.
- Stay informed on the latest practices in child life care and non-pharmacological pain management.
- Support emotional well-being for children and families.
- Offer resources and education on diagnoses and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Life, Child Development, or a related field.
- Certified Child Life Specialist or proof of eligibility.
- Experience in acute care preferred.
- Proficiency in charting systems, especially Epic.
- Strong skills in communication and patient advocacy.
