About the Opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to patients in a designated stepdown unit. This full-time contract position involves incorporating the tenets of Relationship Centered Care and utilizing the nursing process based on evidence-based practice. Responsibilities include delivering patient care, assessing patient needs, applying critical thinking, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and evaluate care plans. The nurse prioritizes patient care aspects such as teaching and planning post-hospital care, educates patients and caregivers, and manages assignments within the Modified Primary Nursing model.
The estimated base pay for these positions is $51.70 to $61.10 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and create individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide education to patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team for care plan development and implementation.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress and care delivery.
- Stay informed on current nursing research and evidence-based practices.
- Perform charge nurse duties and coordinate supply utilization and inventory.
- Facilitate patient throughput and manage resource allocation effectively.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Associate's degree considered with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of stepdown, telemetry, or medical-surgical nursing experience required.
- Experience with ventilators, drips, and drains required.
- Active NYS RN License and BLS/ACLS AHA certifications required.
- Experience with EPIC is highly preferred.
