About the Opportunity:
As a Registrar, you ensure the smooth operation of the department by managing business tasks and supporting patient-focused care. Responsibilities include registration, insurance verification, updating financial and demographic information, reception, and other duties. This is a full-time contract position.
The estimated base pay for these positions is $39.60 to $46.80 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) are finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and direct patients, visitors, and staff.
- Answer telephones promptly and courteously, directing calls and taking messages.
- Collect and distribute patient referral information from affiliated physicians.
- Escort visitors and patients and provide necessary information.
- Promote a culturally sensitive environment.
- Distribute departmental reading materials and ensure availability.
- Register patients and update demographic, financial, and emergency contact information.
- Verify demographic information and insurance coverage through patient interviews.
- Generate patient charts and attach pertinent information according to policy.
- Review discharged patient charts for diagnosis and appropriate documentation.
- Process specimens for laboratories by verifying labels and ensuring compliance.
- File charts and retrieve old records.
- Maintain patient recall files.
- Log patients into the appropriate registration logs and reconcile records.
- Obtain signatures for consent and make clinic appointments as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Relevant certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (renamed ODS) is non-negotiable.
- 6-9 months of healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience with Epic and Metric software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Keyboard and basic computer skills.
- English language proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
- Ability to prioritize, solve problems, use judgment, and remain flexible.
