About the Opportunity:
The Surgical Tech Cardiac role involves providing critical support during cardiac surgical procedures such as CABG's, TAVI's, and heart failure surgeries including VAD's, ECMO, Artificial Heart, and Heart Transplants. This is a full-time contract position with a commitment of 36 to 48 hours per week, including day/night rotation, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as needed. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Surgical Technologist prepares instruments, equipment, and supplies, assists the surgical team in the scrub position, ensures proper care and handling of instruments, facilitates room turnover, maintains sterile technique, and performs surgical counts. The role also involves handling solutions and pharmacologic agents under a registered nurse's direction.
The estimated base pay for these positions are $43.45 to $51.35 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for cardiac surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.
- Ensure proper care and handling of instruments and facilitate room turnover.
- Maintain sterile technique, handle sharps safely, and perform surgical counts.
- Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents.
Job Requirements:
- NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
- Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac OR.
- Ability to scrub and circulate.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY).
- Operating room experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred.
