About the Opportunity
Our client, a high-profile organization in New York City that operates in a dynamic, fast-paced industry, is looking to add a Tax Accountant to its growing finance team. This is an excellent contract opportunity for an early-career tax professional to gain hands-on exposure to partnership taxation, multi-state compliance, and complex tax reporting while working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
The annual base salary range is $65,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and review partnership tax returns and related schedules
- Support state and local tax compliance, including filings and adjustments across multiple jurisdictions
- Assist with foreign income tax reporting and book-to-tax adjustments
- Maintain detailed and well-organized tax work papers to ensure accuracy and audit readiness
- Partner with internal teams and external auditors during tax reviews and examinations
- Ensure timely, accurate submission of tax filings and supporting documentation
- Contribute to ad hoc projects related to tax planning, compliance, and process improvement
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with partnership tax returns
- Working knowledge of state and local tax compliance and adjustments
- Exposure to foreign income tax and book-to-tax differences is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with tax preparation software
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Prior public accounting experience (large national or comparable firm preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak tax periods
