About the Opportunity
Our client is well-regarded Financial Services firm in New York City that is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to ensure the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for their workforce. This role is responsible for maintaining payroll data, managing compliance, preparing reports, and driving process improvements to support both employees and the business. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll expertise, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. This role follows a hybrid work schedule.
The annual base salary range is $80,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the processing of multi-state payroll for 1000+ employees in the US
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
- Maintain and audit payroll information through collecting, calculating, entering, and uploading data
- Update payroll records, entering changes in exemptions, deductions, employment status, and department/division transfers
- Recommend ways to improve and automate payroll processes
- Prepare reports, compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Prepare tax documents firmwide
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and responding in a timely matter
Job Requirements
- Must have 3+ years of experience in end-to-end multi-state payroll processing
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Proficient in Excel
- Financial services industry is a plus
