About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to support a dynamic and fast-paced management accounting team in New York City. This role will report directly to the Accounting Manager and focus on enhancing financial reporting accuracy, maintaining internal controls, and streamlining operational workflows across multiple legal entities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and eager to take ownership within a lean team structure. The base pay for this position is $40 to $52 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in executing the monthly close process by preparing account reconciliations, internal management reports, quarterly updates, and financial statements in accordance with US GAAP for the management entity and its subsidiaries
- Maintain accurate financial records through preparation of journal entries, cash activity posting, and upkeep of the general ledger
- Improve workflows related to finance operations and accounts payable, including invoice handling, employee expense processing, vendor disbursements, and reconciliation of outstanding payables
- Manage treasury functions such as daily cash position tracking and bank account reconciliations
- Prepare both standard and specialized month-end journal entries, covering areas such as fixed asset activity, depreciation, amortization, prepaids, deferred revenue, and accruals related to payroll and operations
- Conduct reviews of existing internal control processes to ensure proper financial governance
- Contribute to the implementation of systems or tools aimed at streamlining and improving the efficiency of the monthly close cycle
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
- CPA is a plus
- 6–8 years of increasing responsibility in accounting roles
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and strong technical accounting capabilities
- Proficiency in NetSuite is required; familiarity with Concur is highly desirable
- Background in finance operations or accounts payable is a bonus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a distributed team environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure
- Experience using automation tools and AI-driven solutions to improve finance processes
