About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading investment firm, is seeking a highly skilled Transactional Attorney to join its legal team in New York City with a focus on credit and structured finance. This role will involve structuring and executing complex investment transactions across areas such as corporate credit, fund finance, asset-backed securities, commercial real estate, and other structured credit strategies. The ideal candidate will bring prior in-house or top law firm experience, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to manage deals independently. This position offers hands-on involvement, direct collaboration with deal teams and clients, and significant exposure to senior leadership.
The annual base salary range is $300,000 to $350,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee investment transactions across a range of asset classes from initial structuring through closing.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal agreements, including credit facilities, purchase agreements, indentures, and related documentation.
- Partner with internal deal teams, clients, and external counsel to ensure efficient and accurate transaction execution.
- Provide clear legal guidance on investment structures, regulatory considerations, and risk management matters to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Manage transaction timelines, ensuring all approvals and documentation are completed to standard and on schedule.
- Support the development of process improvements and best practices within the legal function to enhance execution and consistency
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- 5–10 years of relevant legal experience gained either in-house within the financial services or insurance sector, or at a leading law firm
- Background in structured finance, with exposure to transactions such as ABS, CLOs, securitizations, or similar credit products
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions independently and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong knowledge of the investment landscape and structured finance markets
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
