About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established orthopedic practice based in Clifton, NJ, is seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist to join their administrative team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing authorizations for services, ensuring accurate and timely approvals that support quality patient care. The annual base salary range is $60,000 to $80,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and treatment plans to determine the necessary authorizations required for procedures, treatments, and services
- Gather and submit all required documentation and information to support authorization requests, including clinical notes, treatment plans, and insurance information
- Follow up on authorization requests to ensure timely approval and resolution of any issues or denials
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to address any questions or concerns related to authorizations
- Maintain accurate records of authorization requests, approvals, denials, and any other relevant information in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and billing specialists, to coordinate authorization efforts and optimize patient care
- Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, procedures, and regulations related to authorizations and reimbursement
- Provide education and training to staff members on authorization processes and best practices
Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in medical and/or surgical authorization
- High School Diploma or equivalent
