About the Opportunity
We are seeking two skilled Orthopedic Physician Assistants to join a busy orthopedic team in Bergen County, NJ. The role involves both outpatient care and operating room support, with occasional weekend coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced PAs looking to work in a collaborative, community-focused setting!
The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $165,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the orthopedic physician in both surgical and non-surgical patient care
- Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, coordinating with the supervising physician
- Participate in surgeries, including first assist, tissue closure, application of orthopedic appliances, and other delegated tasks
- Apply and remove casts and splints, perform suturing, and remove staples
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and labs, and communicate results to patients and the care team
- Facilitate follow-up care and patient education, including counseling on treatment plans
- Conduct hospital rounds, enter chart documentation, and coordinate care with sub-specialists as needed
- Assist in discharge planning, including drafting discharge summaries
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a current PA license
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience; 3–5 years in orthopedics preferred
- Experience assisting in the operating room and caring for inpatients strongly preferred
- Strong clinical and physical assessment skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Comfortable with occasional weekend coverage
