About the Opportunity
Our client, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a highly organized Human Resources Assistant consultant to join their growing team in Westchester County, NY. This role plays a vital part within the Human Resources department, supporting various talent acquisition and onboarding functions, and helping to ensure smooth and compliant hiring practices across the organization’s programs and services.
The base pay for this position is $22 to $27 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with program coordinators and liaisons to execute staffing strategies for Community Habilitation and Respite services
- Manage the full-cycle onboarding process for new hires ensuring compliance with organizational and state requirements
- Coordinate background checks and clearances for all incoming staff
- Assist candidates in completing required documentation and maintain consistent communication throughout the onboarding process
- Input and maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS and training databases
- Draft and issue offer letters and welcome packets for all new hires
- Track completion of all required training; communicate training hours to payroll and HR management
- Collaborate with the HR Benefits Manager and HR Generalist to support New Hire Orientation and benefits enrollment
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of human resource or onboarding experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Familiarity with OPWDD and NYSED guidelines is highly preferred.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
