About the Opportunity
Our client, a New York City–based investment organization, is seeking an Operations & Performance Analyst to support portfolio management, investment reporting, and operational workflows across public and private investment strategies. This role sits at the intersection of analytics, reporting, and operations, providing critical insights that inform investment decisions while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of performance data. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing investment data, producing performance and attribution reporting, and supporting portfolio-level operations. The analyst will work closely with portfolio managers, operations teams, and external vendors to ensure investment data integrity and timely delivery of reporting to internal stakeholders and clients.
The annual base salary range is $75,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret investment data to support portfolio management and strategic decision-making
- Produce recurring performance, attribution, and exposure reporting across public markets, private investments, and alternative strategies
- Support portfolio activity related to rebalancing, monitoring, and investment lifecycle events
- Prepare and validate investment performance calculations, including reconciliation of cash flows and profit/loss across multiple strategies
- Assist with operational processes such as account setup, cash movements, journals, and transaction tracking, serving as a backup resource where needed
- Review and monitor private investment exposure data and capital activity, ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems
- Identify, investigate, and resolve performance exceptions, acting as a liaison between internal teams and third-party data providers
- Contribute to the enhancement, testing, and automation of reporting tools and analytics workflows
- Respond to ad hoc analytical and reporting requests from investment and client-facing teams
- Maintain documentation and reporting standards to support performance measurement and compliance frameworks
- Participate in internal and external meetings, including preparation of materials and follow-up items
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline
- 2+ years of experience in investment reporting, performance measurement, portfolio analytics, or a similar analytical role
- Working knowledge of performance methodologies such as time-weighted returns, internal rate of return, and multi-asset portfolio analysis
- Strong analytical aptitude with the ability to evaluate data across a broad investment mandate
- High attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with automation tools, databases, or programming languages is a plus
