About the Opportunity
We are seeking a PACU Nurse Manager to lead a high-performing Post Anesthesia Care Unit team within a respected New York healthcare organization. This is a hands-on leadership role for a clinically strong nurse who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment and is passionate about mentoring staff, driving quality outcomes, and supporting safe, patient-centered care.
The PACU Nurse Manager will provide operational and clinical oversight for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, ensuring excellence in patient recovery services following surgical procedures. This leader will maintain professional nursing standards while fostering a culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $195,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee daily PACU operations, including staffing, scheduling, and workflow coordination
- Provide leadership in recruitment, coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary
- Ensure adherence to evidence-based perioperative nursing standards and regulatory requirements
- Support quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and performance metrics
- Maintain budgetary awareness and assist with resource allocation and inventory oversight
- Promote staff development through education, mentoring, and competency validation
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in pediatric PACU and perioperative recovery care
- Collaborate with surgical services, anesthesia teams, and hospital leadership to enhance patient outcomes
- Participate in research and professional practice advancement initiatives
- Maintain a patient-centered focus aligned with ethical nursing standards
Job Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license
- Master’s degree required (or completion within three years of hire); MSN preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of nurse leadership experience (or progressive supervisory experience)
- At least 3 years of PACU or pediatric PACU experience
- OR experience strongly preferred
- CNOR certification preferred
