About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor to join our client’s behavioral health team on Staten Island, NY. This role focuses on supporting individuals and families affected by substance use through comprehensive assessment, therapeutic interventions, and coordinated care. The ideal candidate will be skilled in trauma-informed practices and committed to helping clients achieve meaningful recovery outcomes.
The annual base salary range is $70,000 to $80,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches tailored to the needs of clients and their families
- Collaborate with clients to create personalized treatment plans that address substance use and broader life challenges, incorporating input from family members and other care providers
- Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments to understand client history, needs, and goals, integrating information from collateral sources when appropriate
- Coordinate services and referrals to ensure clients have access to necessary supports, including medical, housing, vocational, and social services
- Track client progress through regular evaluations, including toxicology screenings and other clinical tools, to inform ongoing treatment strategies
- Prepare clients for transitions in care by developing comprehensive discharge and aftercare plans that promote long-term stability
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
- Deliver educational workshops and training sessions on substance use topics to internal teams and community partners
- Perform additional duties as needed to support program goals and client success
Job Requirements
- Must hold a valid New York State Credential in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling (CASAC)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required
