About the Opportunity
Our client, a prominent professional association in the financial services industry, is seeking a contract Events Coordinator to join their team in New York City. This organization is dedicated to providing education, networking, and career development opportunities for its members through a wide range of programming. The Events Coordinator will play a key role in planning and executing events that bring together industry professionals, thought leaders, and partners, ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants.
The base pay for this position is $30 to $32 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of event planning and execution, from initial concept through post-event follow-up, for both in-person and virtual events
- Support logistics for Society Interest Group meetings, including scheduling, registration, communications, and on-site/virtual support
- Collaborate across departments (Programming/Events, Membership, Marketing, Media, Sponsorship, Finance) to ensure seamless event delivery and excellent member service
- Manage event registration processes, track attendance, and provide timely communication with registrants
- Assist in updating event webpages, registration systems (Cvent), and promotional materials
- Help maintain and communicate the organization-wide events calendar for staff, members, and volunteers
- Support event organizers and volunteer leaders in managing program logistics and ensuring a high-quality experience for attendees
- Contribute to event marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, to increase visibility and member engagement
Job Requirements
- 2–4+ years of experience coordinating and managing professional events, preferably in a corporate, nonprofit, or professional services setting
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong project management, organizational, and time management abilities, with the capacity to balance multiple priorities
- Self-driven and accountable, able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with event management or CRM systems is a plus
- Familiarity with digital marketing and social media platforms to support event promotion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach
- Willingness to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed for events
