About the Opportunity
Our client in Rockland County, New York is seeking a contract Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. Partnering closely with the CFO, this leader will manage day-to-day finance operations, implement rigorous controls, and guide strategic decisions to support long-term growth. The ideal candidate brings proven expertise in financial management, a strong ethical compass, and the confidence to challenge assumptions while safeguarding the company’s fiscal health.
The base pay for this position is $70 to $80 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the administration and management of the finance department including:
- Accounting & financial reporting
- Receivables & customer billing
- Credit & Collection
- Payables & Disbursements
- Payroll processing
- Tax compliance
- Financial policies
- Accounting software systems & chart of accounts
- Oversight of the finance staff including hiring, training as well mentoring and supervision
- Play key role in developing company-wide financial and operational policies
- Implement and maintain strong internal control environment
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including sales & use tax
- Maintain the accounting software systems and chart of accounts
- Manage the company’s daily cash position and perform treasury functions including wire transfers and bank borrowings
- Prepare journal entries and manage interfaces from other accounting systems to the general ledger
- Prepare monthly management reports and ad hoc analyses
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements
- Oversee payroll process ensuring timely and accurate payment of all employees
- Liaison with the external auditors and manage the annual audit/review and tax returns preparation
- Manage relationships with outsourcing partners including monthly sales & use tax returns preparation and payroll processing
- Oversight and review of contracts with outside vendors and contractors
- Provide leadership to the senior management team of the company by providing insights to help guide the operations and business strategy
- Provide the information necessary for all department heads to have the tools which are necessary for them to manage the financial aspects of their department
- Oversee business insurance: auto, workers comp., general liability, etc
- Identify opportunities for cost savings
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of accounting experience
- Supervisory experience
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, etc.)
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar systems
