About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a reputable organization that provides services to marginalized children and their families. They are looking to hire a Grant Accountant to support their Directors. The ideal hire will have at least 2 years of grant management and accounting experience. This is an excellent contract opportunity for an enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented candidate to showcase their skillset!
The pay range is $33 to $42 per four. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the daily grant/ contract process for 15 to 17 grants, including collaborating with Directors regarding grant opportunities
- Responsible for the review and approval of all Purchase Orders initiated by the Directors for those contracts in the assigned portfolio
- Monthly preparation of documentation, expense reports, and coordination of the administrative process of the grant program
- Preparation of monthly &/or quarterly reimbursement expenditure vouchers
- Record all electronic payments for the grants in the assigned portfolio
- Monitor, input, review all grant data in the required City/State/Federal portal and system
- Monitor interventions and programs funded by grants to ensure compliance with grantor guidelines
- Serve as a liaison with principals and other departments on issues regarding grants. Provide financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation; collecting, analyzing information; advising departments on the collection and analysis of data
- Work proactively with program staff to understand needs and changes in the program’s operations, and initiate all budget modifications based on that discussion
- Prepare Journal Entries and perform account analysis for assigned contracts as part of the monthly financial close
- Conduct monthly meetings with department heads to review budgets, year to date expenses, projections and other program matters
- Coordinate grant compliance and reporting responsibilities with Finance, Human Resources and Programs including program outcome data and fiscal reports
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including cash flow projections
- Serve as a key point of contact with funders, and develop and coordinate all requests in a timely manner
Job Requirements
- Experience with government grant management is a MUST (preferably City grants such as DOHMH, DHS/HRA, DYCD, DOE and DFTA experiences.)
- Former accountant with hands on experience with billing, reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, general ledgers
- Detail oriented, dealing with a lot of reporting so need to be able to remain organized
- Able to deal with heavy workload in a very fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with good writing and verbal skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of Intact, and Adobe PDF files
- Highly skilled in Excel (VLookup, Macros, Pivotables)
- Bachelor’s Degree Required, Accounting Preferred
