About the Opportunity
Our client is a fast-growing business located in New York City, using technology and analytics expertise to generate profits in the energy commodity markets, with a focus on power and natural gas. The Junior Controller will assist the CFO by being a key team player focusing on further institutionalizing processes and procedures across the accounting and finance teams as well as help drive business growth with involvement in special projects.
The base pay for this position is $50 to $55 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Responsibilities
- Prepare books and records of Fund entities monthly and quarterly
- Prepare books and records of funds, such as allocations, capital activity, and fee calculations each quarter-end
- Preparation of annual audit and annual audited financial statements for assigned funds
- Establishment of accounting policies for new investments and ensure strong financial controls are maintained
- Prepare and report cash flow on a periodic basis
- Preparing recurring and ad hoc internal and external performance and investor reporting
- Liaise with investment professionals, technology, middle office, audit/tax accounting firms, etc.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects to drive business growth
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience working in the financial services and/or Big 4 industry
- Experience with complex fund structures and/or with multi-manager hedge funds
- Knowledge of FTRs, energy derivatives, hedge fund/private equity structures
- Knowledge of ISOs and invoicing process
- Public/Private/Admin experience working with hybrid and closed-end funds
- Expertise in Excel; Sage Intacct; python coding
- Expertise in US GAAP; IFRS; CPA or equivalent certification
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
