Medical Director

About the Opportunity

Our client, a mission-driven, community-focused healthcare organization in New York City, is seeking a Medical Director to lead clinical operations at one of its high-volume health centers. The organization provides comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, and supportive services to underserved populations across multiple boroughs. With a strong commitment to health equity, this organization serves tens of thousands of individuals annually through fixed sites, mobile units, and school-based programs.

The Medical Director will oversee clinical affairs at a designated health center, providing both direct patient care and leadership to a multidisciplinary team. This role involves supervising providers, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with administrative leadership to optimize care delivery and operational efficiency.

The annual base salary range is $180,000 to $220,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality primary care services to a diverse patient population
  • Supervise and support medical providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants
  • Partner with center leadership to manage day-to-day clinical operations
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and compliance efforts
  • Lead or contribute to provider onboarding, training, and performance evaluations
  • Represent the center in clinical leadership meetings and organizational planning
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and organizational values

 

Job Requirements

  • Board-certified MD or DO with an active license to practice in New York State
  • Minimum of one year of post-residency experience in a primary care setting
  • Demonstrated leadership experience or strong interest in clinical supervision and operations
  • Commitment to serving diverse, medically underserved communities
  • Bilingual skills and experience in community health settings are a plus
