Pain Management Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pain Management Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our client’s growing healthcare team in Suffolk County, NY. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive pain management services to patients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $160,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients with chronic pain conditions
  • Collect and analyze patient medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Develop personalized and evidence-based treatment plans for pain management, integrating pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care
  • Prescribe and manage medications for pain relief, considering the patient’s overall health and potential side effects
  • Monitor and adjust medication regimens based on patient response and treatment goals
  • Perform or assist in various interventional pain procedures, such as injections or nerve blocks, as part of the comprehensive pain management strategy
  • Educate patients and their families on pain management strategies, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications
  • Provide clear and understandable instructions on medications, potential side effects, and self-care measures
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, addressing questions, concerns, and providing ongoing support
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, documenting patient assessments, treatments, and progress
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of pain management services
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in pain management and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care

 

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current NY licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required
  • Pain management (or related) experience preferred
  • Proficiency in performing interventional pain procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong collaborative and team-oriented approach to patient care
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse healthcare team
