About the Opportunity
Our client, a prestigious venture capital firm in Manhattan, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Management Company Controller. The role will be hands-on and multifaceted, involving management company accounting, strategic financial analysis, financial reporting, treasury operations, and process optimization. The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee consolidated operations for the management company, including upper-tier partnership structures and ownership entities
- Support month-end close for legal entities, focusing on technical and partnership accounting
- Collaborate with external investors and lower-tier accounting teams to complete accurate financial closes
- Work closely with founders and family offices on generational planning, distributions, and allocations
- Interpret partnership agreements and manage allocations, guaranteed payments, and related tax functions
- Liaise with legal teams on structuring and managing external investment vehicles and blocker entities
- Analyze and manage complex waterfall calculations based on partnership agreements
- Handle traditional corporate accounting functions, including capital funding and investment tracking across entities
- Utilize NetSuite for core accounting; Excel used for reporting—evaluate systems for managing third-party capital
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline
- CPA is highly desirable, especially for candidates with solid experience in both partnership and corporate accounting
- 5-7+ years of experience from environments such as private equity, venture capital, or organizations with intricate, multi-entity financial structures
- Deep understanding of U.S. accounting standards (GAAP) is essential
- Hands-on experience using NetSuite and other financial planning platforms
- Consistently delivering timely, accurate financial reporting a must
