Senior Program Director

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established nonprofit in New York City, is seeking a Senior Program Director to play a central leadership role within their community behavioral health division. The individual in this role will provide strategic oversight of their Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program in Brooklyn, and be accountable for the program’s clinical excellence, operational effectiveness, and financial sustainability. A LMSW or LCSW license is required for this position.

The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the overall performance, growth, and integrity of assigned SUD services, including staff leadership and program development
  • Provide executive-level leadership to clinical and administrative teams, including direct supervision and ongoing staff development
  • Lead planning and execution of initiatives designed to expand service reach and increase client engagement
  • Oversee day-to-day clinical, operational, and budgetary functions to ensure effective and sustainable service delivery
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets to maintain fiscal responsibility and long-term viability
  • Maintain program sites to meet safety, accessibility, and professional standards
  • Foster strong partnerships with community stakeholders, referral sources, and external collaborators
  • Collaborate with peer leaders and other departments to address operational challenges and align organizational goals
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational priorities

 

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
  • Clinical licensure required (LCSW or LMSW).
  • CASAC credential strongly preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a licensed behavioral health setting (e.g., OASAS, OMH, or CCBHC).
  • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proven capacity to manage competing priorities and complex workloads.
  • Prior experience within substance use treatment programs preferred.
