About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established New York City nonprofit, is in search of a Senior Vice President of Homeless Services to join their team in Brooklyn. This executive-level role requires a dynamic leader with deep experience in human services, operational oversight, and team development. The individual in this position will lead a portfolio of shelter programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth.
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning initiatives to drive program effectiveness and future expansion
- Supervise senior program staff through regular one-on-one meetings, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Oversee contract negotiations and proposal development for new and existing funding opportunities
- Interpret and communicate contract obligations and performance benchmarks to internal teams
- Monitor program performance using data analytics to inform improvements and innovation
- Ensure consistent use and accuracy of electronic case management systems
- Develop and enforce quality assurance protocols to enhance service delivery and reduce risk
- Review and authorize staff development plans, leave requests, and training opportunities
- Approve operational expenditures, including supply orders, travel reimbursements, and vendor payments
- Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
- Represent the organization at community, funder, and inter-agency meetings as needed
- Cultivate relationships with local stakeholders, including law enforcement, property owners, and community leaders
- Provide oversight of subcontractors and consultants to ensure adherence to standards and deliverables
- Identify and pursue additional funding sources and in-kind support to strengthen program sustainability
- Conduct regular administrative meetings and performance evaluations for direct reports
- Collaborate with executive leadership on personnel decisions, including hiring and disciplinary actions
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, Guidance, or Art Therapy
- Active professional licensure required for applicable degrees (e.g., LMSW, LCSW, LMHC)
- Minimum of five years of related experience, or a combination of education and equivalent professional experience
