About the Opportunity
Our client is a global investment management firm in New York City that serves the insurance industry. They are actively hiring an experienced Systems Engineer to join their team for an ongoing contract opportunity. The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the global technology infrastructure while providing technical support to end-users across multiple regions. This position requires a combination of infrastructure engineering expertise and strong customer service skills to ensure the firm’s technology environment’s reliability, scalability, and security while delivering exceptional support to end-users.
The base pay for this position is $30 to $40 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and implement infrastructure components in alignment with industry standards and best practices, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and reliable
- Provide technical assistance and resolve issues for users across different regions, focusing on minimizing service interruptions and downtimeTroubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, escalating more complex problems to senior engineers or vendors when necessary
- Handle and prioritize infrastructure incidents and service requests through the company’s ticketing system, following service level agreements (SLAs) and escalation protocols to ensure efficient communication and resolutionAnalyze the root causes of significant incidents and recurring problems, applying corrective actions to prevent future issues
- Participate in infrastructure change management processes, reviewing, approving, and executing changes following established proceduresWork with various teams to plan and execute infrastructure deployments, updates, and maintenance during scheduled downtime
- Continuously monitor infrastructure performance using dashboards and monitoring tools to identify areas needing improvement and optimize resource utilizationImplement strategies to enhance system performance and user experience, ensuring infrastructure adheres to security policies and regulations
- Support security audits and compliance assessments, addressing any vulnerabilities or findings to maintain strong protection of company assetsMaintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations and troubleshooting processes. Contribute to staff training and knowledge-sharing efforts to improve technical skills and support capabilities
- Collaborate with vendors to implement and maintain infrastructure solutions, ensuring that their performance meets contractual and service-level expectations
- Provide feedback to management for vendor performance evaluations
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience is required
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, MCSA, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus
- 1-3 years of experience in infrastructure engineering or technical support, with a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure solutions within a global organization
- In-depth understanding of networking principles and technologies is essential, including expertise in LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancing
- Solid grasp of server technologies, storage solutions, virtualization (such as VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) is also required
- Experience with monitoring and management tools like SolarWinds or Splunk, as well as familiarity with incident management systems like Ivanti or JIRA, is expected
- Additionally, candidates should be knowledgeable about security standards and regulations such as GDPR, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001, with an understanding of best practices for infrastructure security
