About the Opportunity
Our client, a high-profile investment management platform based in New York City, is seeking a Tax Manager to help drive continued innovation across its tax function. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to lead complex partnership tax matters, champion technology-driven process improvements, and manage a skilled team within a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
The annual base salary range is $185,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and review all aspects of tax compliance for hedge funds, private equity funds, carry vehicles, and related structures
- Provide technical expertise on partnership tax, with a focus on Section 704(b) capital and allocation methodologies
- Partner with fund accounting, legal, external advisors, and technology teams to implement process enhancements and leverage new systems
- Assess how tax positions and reporting affect overall fund structures and investor outcomes
- Serve as project manager on team initiatives, ensuring effective execution and strong communication across stakeholders
- Lead and develop tax team members, fostering collaboration and technical growth
- Act as a strategic partner to senior tax leadership, driving technology adoption and innovation in the tax reporting process
- Deliver high standards of accuracy, analysis, and compliance while continuously challenging and improving existing processes
Job Requirements
- CPA required
- 7-10 years of relevant partnership tax experience in public accounting or the alternative investment industry
- Significant technical expertise in Subchapter K, with a track record covering both hedge and private equity fund structures
- Experience with aggregation methods and carry allocations
- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven success implementing technology or process enhancements within a tax function
- Collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, sophisticated investment environment
