Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner

About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients facing serious illness. They are committed to delivering compassionate and comprehensive palliative care services to enhance the comfort, dignity, and overall well-being of their patients and their families. As a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in their mission to provide exceptional care and support to those in need.

The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments of patients and families to develop individualized care plans that address their unique needs and goals
  • Manage and alleviate pain and distressing symptoms through expert medication management and non-pharmacological interventions
  • Facilitate open and honest communication between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure a clear understanding of the patient’s condition, prognosis, and treatment options
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families, helping them navigate the challenges associated with serious illness, end-of-life decisions, and grief
  • Assist patients in creating advance directives, living wills, and healthcare proxy documents to ensure their wishes are respected
  • Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, share insights, and develop comprehensive care plans that align with the patient’s goals
  • Educate patients, families, and staff about palliative care principles, pain management, and end-of-life care to promote understanding and informed decision-making
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of palliative care services provided by the organization
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation of care provided in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Stay current with advances in palliative care through ongoing education, training, and participation in relevant conferences and seminars

 

Job Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Minimum of 1 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassion, empathy, and the ability to provide emotional support
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal issues in palliative care
