About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global investment firm, is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join their Fixed Income Electronic Trading team in New York City. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and stability of complex trading platforms that power Direct Market Access (DMA) and algorithmic execution across global markets. In this front-office aligned role, you’ll work directly with traders, sales teams, technologists, and vendors to provide real-time production support within a fast-paced, high-volume trading environment. The ideal candidate is highly technical, collaborative, and thrives under pressure while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
The annual base salary range is $135,000 to $155,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on production support for Fixed Income electronic trading systems
- Troubleshoot connectivity, order routing, and post-trade workflow issues related to the FIX protocol
- Monitor order flow and proactively identify and resolve potential failures or performance bottlenecks
- Oversee market data feeds to ensure timeliness and data integrity
- Liaise with trading desks, sales, and operations to resolve technical and workflow-related queries
- Support and maintain EMS/OMS platforms, ensuring seamless integration with downstream systems
- Partner with middle-office teams on allocations, bookings, and reconciliation processes
- Utilize monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Splunk, OpenText) to detect and prevent issues
- Collaborate with vendors on connectivity, market data, and platform maintenance
- Lead root cause analysis initiatives and contribute to long-term system stability improvements
- Participate in release cycles, exchange upgrades, and Disaster Recovery/BCP testing
Job Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience supporting electronic trading systems, ideally within Fixed Income or Equities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field
- Exposure to DMA, SOR, and algorithmic trading workflows
- Understanding of global exchange protocols and market regulations (Reg NMS, CAT, MiFID II)
- Strong understanding of the FIX protocol and Fixed Income trade lifecycle
- Proven experience in front-office trading support with direct trader interaction
- Expertise in EMS/OMS environments such as Raptor, Fidessa, FlexTrade, or Bloomberg EMSX
- Familiarity with market data sources including Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and exchange feeds
- Knowledge of middle-office processes (allocations, booking, reconciliation)
- Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Splunk, and OpenText/SiteScope
- Excellent analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
- Scripting and database skills (Unix shell scripting and SQL) preferred
