About the Opportunity
Our client, a premier global law firm, is seeking a Financial Analyst (Tech) with strong technical, analytical, and reporting skills to support firm-wide FP&A initiatives in their New York City office. This role will support the buildout of modern, data-driven financial reporting by developing dashboards, automating workflows, and delivering insight-rich analyses for leadership. The ideal candidate blends business acumen with a strong technical toolkit, particularly in Excel, SQL, and Power BI, and is excited about using technology (including emerging AI capabilities) to enhance productivity and accuracy.
The annual base salary range is $75,000 to $105,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Produce financial analysis across departments, practices, offices, and clients using both established and advanced analytical approaches
- Partner closely with FP&A stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain BI-driven reporting solutions
- Automate manual reporting processes to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency across close, forecast, and budget cycles
- Build, optimize, and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models, and reports (including DAX and Power Query)
- Develop and refine SQL queries to extract, cleanse, and validate data from Microsoft SQL Server
- Contribute to data model design and governance to support scalable reporting frameworks
- Prepare polished, executive-ready presentations summarizing analytical findings and insights
- Collaborate across teams to improve workflows, streamline processes, and meet critical deadlines
- Explore practical AI-assisted use cases (documentation, reconciliation checks, summarization, prototype query creation, etc.) to further enhance reporting capabilities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–4 years of relevant financial analysis or business intelligence experience
- Advanced Excel abilities (XLOOKUP/lookup functions, pivot tables, Power Query; VBA/macros a plus)
- Strong PowerPoint skills for preparing executive-level deliverables
- Hands-on experience designing and developing BI/analytics solutions using Microsoft SQL Server
- Proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX measures, Power Query, and report publishing/refresh management
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and communicate clear solutions
- Knowledge or credentials in Accounting, Finance, or Economics a plus
- Ability to prioritize deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively across diverse teams and stakeholder groups
- Interest in and familiarity with AI tools to support ongoing technology and reporting initiatives
