About the Opportunity
Our client’s growing palliative care program in Brooklyn is seeking a full-time attending physician to deliver compassionate and comprehensive care. This role involves both direct patient care and opportunities for teaching and program development. The Attending Physician will focus on improving the quality of life for patients and their families by managing complex symptoms and facilitating crucial goals-of-care conversations and advance care planning. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and proactive professional, dedicated to excellent patient care and academic growth.
The annual base salary range is $200,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary provider for palliative medicine patients in a dedicated outpatient clinic, Monday through Friday
- Work collaboratively with oncology teams and other specialists to provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care
- Conduct goals-of-care discussions, manage complex symptoms, and perform advance care planning with patients and their families
- Engage in efforts to improve primary palliative care education across the health system and deliver lectures to residents, fellows, and medical students
- Help expand ambulatory palliative care services, potentially serving non-cancer populations and supporting a palliative medicine fellowship program
- Pursue academic projects and clinical research consistent with personal interests
- Participate actively in quality improvement and service initiatives within the palliative care division
- Build and grow the program by fostering relationships and expanding referrals from internal and external providers
- Serve on interdisciplinary committees and contribute to the development of clinical protocols
- Supervise and educate trainees on palliative medicine rotations
Job Requirements
- Must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Board-certified or board-eligible in a primary specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine) and board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Experience in an outpatient palliative care setting is preferred
- Interest in community outreach and program development is a plus
- Experience serving diverse patient populations is highly desirable
- Outstanding ability to teach and mentor trainees
- Interest in collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance palliative care access
