Claims Associate – Workers’ Compensation

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Claims Associate with a strong background in workers’ compensation claims administration to join our client’s team in Queens, NY. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of examiner-level experience, a college degree, and deep familiarity with New York State disability and workers’ compensation laws. This role requires strong investigative skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage claims efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.

The annual base salary range is $68,000 to $75,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and manage a caseload of workers’ compensation and disability claims in accordance with New York State law and company policies
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of claims from initial report through resolution or closure
  • Review medical documentation, legal reports, and other supporting materials to determine compensability and benefit eligibility
  • Communicate with injured workers, medical providers, attorneys, employers, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain compliance with statutory deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, HR, and finance, to resolve complex claims issues
  • Document all actions in the claim management system and maintain up-to-date, complete records
  • Monitor claim outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement or cost-containment
  • Stay current on relevant legislation, regulations, and industry trends

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Workers’ Compensation Examiner or Claims Professional
  • Strong knowledge of New York State workers’ compensation and disability laws
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
