About the Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in electronic trading, is seeking multiple Core Operations Engineers (VES/VPMM) to join their fast-paced teams in either New York City or Austin, TX on a hybrid work schedule. This uniquely technical and visible role is integral to the deployment, management, and optimization of large-scale trading systems operating on hundreds of venues worldwide. Core Ops Engineers are at the forefront of market interactions, requiring excellence under pressure, technical skill, and a keen market interest.
The annual base salary range is $125,000 to $160,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor, manage, and optimize electronic trading systems operating across global exchanges and venues
- Serve as the first point of contact for all external trading connections, proactively troubleshooting and resolving connectivity, latency, and risk issues
- Engage in system triage and issue resolution for both Windows and Linux environments
- Collaborate with traders, external counterparties, and exchanges to address micro-market structure challenges
- Contribute to deployment, risk management, and maintenance efforts for production trading systems
- Operate efficiently in high-stress, time-sensitive environments, maintaining composure and clear communication under pressure
- Work on special technical projects, continuous improvement, and automation with global engineering and operations teams
Job Requirements
- 1–3 years of site reliability, core operations, or production support experience; strong recent graduates welcome
- Strong working knowledge of Linux systems; exposure to Windows environments a plus
- Cool-headed under pressure; comfortable with time-sensitive troubleshooting and decision making
- Interest in high-transaction and/or low-latency environments; appetite for learning about global markets and cutting-edge technology
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting financial systems or global trading platforms
- Familiarity with one programming/scripting language (Python, Bash, Perl, Go, or similar)
- Experience with OMS/EMS order flow, SQL, configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Salt), and networking protocols (TCP/UDP) is a plus
