About the Opportunity
Our client, a global investment management platform, is seeking a Data Engineer to help design and build a cutting-edge market data platform in their New York City office. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of data development, supporting real-time analytics and advanced research by developing robust data pipelines, automation tools, and quality frameworks for financial and alternative data.
The annual base salary range is $140,000 to $165,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to building and maintaining the firm’s world-class data platform for real-time, alternative, and unstructured data
- Develop scalable data solutions and automation tools to enhance data pipeline efficiency, integrity, and resilience
- Collaborate directly with Product and Portfolio Managers to deliver end-to-end data solutions for investment insights
- Work with time-series databases (e.g. ArcticDB, KDB+) to store, query, and manage complex financial data efficiently
- Design and implement tools for data quality assurance, validation, and error handling
- Troubleshoot data issues and partner with data providers to maintain seamless flow and integration across multiple sources
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 4–6 years of experience in software development or data engineering
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams
- Strong sense of ownership, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of fixed income/derivatives products (options, swaps, futures, etc.)
- Familiarity with AWS cloud ecosystem and streaming pipeline design
- Experience with major financial data vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet)
- Hands-on with OLAP tools/platforms such as Snowflake or Trino
- Background with time-series databases (ArcticDB, KDB+)
- Experience collaborating with trading, data, or infrastructure teams
