About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading electronic market maker in New York City, is seeking a skilled Trading Systems Support Specialist to provide global coverage for their electronic order routing platforms in a fast-paced 24×5 environment. The role involves monitoring and troubleshooting trading and connectivity issues across a broad suite of products, working with urgency to resolve production incidents, and supporting client-driven changes within a multi-asset environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of FIX protocol, experience working in UNIX/Linux and Windows systems, and proficiency in SQL for analysis and issue resolution. This position will also require flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, or holiday support to ensure uninterrupted trading operations.
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver responsive phone, chat, and email support to both internal teams and external clients, providing clear guidance on functionality and use of electronic trading systems
- Actively monitor trading platforms in real time, including start-of-day and end-of-day processes as well as routine system health checks
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to system configuration, functionality, and enhancements within trading applications
- Maintain a strong focus on customer service, supporting both institutional clients and firm employees
- Address global production issues involving the FIX protocol and multiple asset classes across different technologies
- Collaborate with a worldwide support team to replicate, document, and prioritize trading-related problems
- Partner with internal teams to classify, escalate, and resolve application-level issues affecting electronic trading systems
- Work closely with engineering, product management, and sales teams to refine solutions that meet business and client requirements
- Serve as a key point of contact between clients and the organization, ensuring smooth communication and issue resolution
- Contribute to client onboarding processes and assist with requests that support the sales effort
Job Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience providing technical support within the financial services sector, ideally with exposure to multiple asset classes and a strong focus on equities
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical work experience
- Strong technical foundation across Windows and UNIX environments, with proficiency in databases such as Microsoft SQL, Sybase, and MySQL
- Hands-on background in supporting trading platforms and working with FIX order routing
- Solid understanding of the FIX protocol as well as knowledge of capital markets, trading processes, and/or asset management operations
- Familiarity with FIX certification, Python scripting, OMS/EMS platforms, and client onboarding is highly desirable
