About the Opportunity
Our client, one of the world’s largest alternative investment managers, is seeking a senior Fund Controller in New York City to take financial ownership of its fast-growing private markets secondaries business, which spans drawdown funds, managed accounts, and evergreen/registered products. This is a newly created role, giving you the rare opportunity to build and shape the strategy’s finance and operations model from the ground up rather than inherit an existing one.
The annual base salary range is $225,000 to $315,000, with a bonus range of $175,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting, operations, and financial reporting across the platform
- Build scalable infrastructure and controls
- Drive automation and AI adoption across processes
- Oversee fund administrators and data governance
- Review fund budgets, improving liquidity modeling and projections
- Support new product launches, RFPs, and fundraising requests
- Partner directly with senior leadership and the deal, client, tax, legal, and technology teams
- Coach and develop junior team members, creating a clear path toward strategy-level CFO or COO leadership
Job Requirements
- 13+ years of public and private accounting experience, significant secondaries or fund-of-funds experience
- Strong U.S. GAAP expertise, and a track record of building functions and improving operating models
- Bachelor’s degree
- A CPA is strongly preferred
- Experience with evergreen, registered (40 Act, tender-offer, or interval) funds, Alteryx, Anaplan, or Power BI is a plus.
