About the Opportunity
We are working with one of our clients in Manhattan to identify exceptional Controller-level candidates within the insurance industry. This position will support the CFO, manage a team, and help with growth initiatives. The CFO has a history of developing his staff and helping them advance their career to the next level.
The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Corporate Accounting: Overseeing corporate accounting functions
- Cash Management and Treasury Services: Handling cash management and treasury operations
- Filing Requirements: Ensuring accurate and timely filing of statements with regulatory bodies
- External Audits: Serving as the primary contact for external and regulatory audits
- Financial Statements: Managing the preparation of audited financial statements and disclosures
- TPA Relationships: Managing relationships with third-party administrators
- Financial Reporting: Reviewing monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages and reconciliations
- Guidance on Accounting Implications: Providing guidance on accounting implications of new products or transactions
- Delegation: Setting goals, delegating tasks, and providing guidance to the Finance team
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is essential
- CPA is preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience within the life insurance sector
- In-depth knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles and familiarity with GAAP life insurance accounting principles
- Strong ability to research and resolve SAP accounting issues with sound technical conclusions
- Proficiency in managing personnel, processes, and projects, and in efficiently allocating departmental resources
- Comprehensive understanding of general ledger functions and internal control mechanisms
