About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Head of Finance to join a $12B AUM real estate private equity debt fund based in Chicago. This high-impact leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO, will oversee financial reporting, manage the fund administrator, and lead treasury operations including liquidity management, capital calls, and distributions. The position will also guide loan facility management, partner with valuation teams, and support acquisitions, dispositions, financing arrangements, and performance measurement, while providing key investor reporting and strategic financial oversight.
The annual base salary range is $175,000 to $300,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders to provide financial insight and guidance on acquisitions, sales, securitizations, and financing strategies
- Foster a culture of collaboration where colleagues regularly engage the finance team for strategic advice and support
- Lead and mentor a multi-location finance group across Chicago and New York, encouraging accountability and teamwork to maximize efficiency
- Oversee relationships with external partners such as fund administrators and audit/tax firms, ensuring high-quality service and compliance
- Streamline financial processes and maintain accuracy by working closely with operations teams and third-party administrators
- Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity to support seamless closings for new investments
- Coordinate with valuation, tax, treasury, and international finance teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain transparent communication with leadership regarding potential risks, key issues, and ongoing progress
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives, sharing best practices with alternative investments and corporate accounting teams
Job Requirements
- CPA with a minimum 15 years of experience
- Currently in-house in a similar fund-focused leadership position
- Prior experience with Real Estate Debt Strategies required
- Combination of “Big 4” and private experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
