About the Opportunity
We’re partnered with a well-established alternative investment management firm with a strong global presence across the U.S. and U.K.. The firm has experienced significant growth over the past year and continues to expand its technology organization to support an increasingly complex trading and investment platform. As part of this expansion, the firm is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join its Core Technology team in New York City. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a technologist who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering reliable, cutting-edge solutions across a distributed global infrastructure.
The annual base salary range is $130,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Engineer, operate, and maintain a globally distributed hybrid infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and resilience across all environments
- Manage and optimize Microsoft identity and infrastructure platforms, including Entra ID, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services
- Administer Windows systems with a focus on security, lifecycle management, and automation using tools such as Group Policy, Intune, and Ivanti
- Support and manage virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, Podman) to enhance flexibility and scalability
- Oversee data protection systems for backup, replication, and disaster recovery, ensuring business continuity and data integrity
- Utilize observability and alerting platforms (Grafana Cloud, LogicMonitor, Elastic, OpsGenie) to maintain infrastructure performance and security
- Develop automation scripts and tooling using PowerShell or Python to streamline operational workflows and improve system reliability
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including developers, traders, and operations, to deliver efficient and innovative technical solutions
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen team capabilities and consistency
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience, ideally within financial services or other high-availability environments
- Proven expertise with Microsoft ecosystem technologies, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, DNS/DHCP, and Entra ID
- Strong hands-on experience with virtualization, containerization, and automation frameworks
- Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python scripting for systems automation
- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and observability platforms (e.g., Commvault, Rubrik, Zerto, LogicMonitor, Grafana)
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with an emphasis on responsiveness, accountability, and client service
- Experience with IT service management and project tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira, ServiceNow) and understanding of ITIL best practices
- Experience designing and architecting enterprise infrastructure solutions across storage, compute, and networking — preferred
- Working knowledge of Linux environments (Red Hat or similar) — preferred
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions — a bonus
- Ability to collaborate across global teams and bring innovative, automation-focused solutions to life in a dynamic environment
