About the Opportunity
Our client, a global financial services firm, is seeking a Junior Desktop Engineer to join its IT team in New York City. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career IT professional motivated to develop their skills in desktop engineering and support within a collaborative, fast-paced trading environment.
The annual base salary range is $80,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support for end users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues
- Assist with deployment, imaging, and configuration of Windows desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
- Support user onboarding and offboarding, including account provisioning and workstation setup
- Perform system updates, patch management, and software installations using IT management tools
- Maintain and update asset inventory records for all end-user devices
- Participate in lifecycle management of devices, including repairs, replacements, and decommissioning
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security standards and configuration baselines are maintained
- Document IT processes, solutions, and troubleshooting activities
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers and continue to build technical expertise
Job Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop support (or equivalent training/education)
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and enterprise software
- Familiarity with Active Directory, user permissions, and account management
- Knowledge of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN) is a plus
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and peripherals
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility for after-hours support as required
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to cybersecurity platforms, cloud services, or Microsoft administration
- Entry-level scripting (PowerShell or similar)
- Experience supporting hybrid or remote users
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
