About the Opportunity
Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization that provides specialized support and resources to individuals with developmental disabilities, and they are in search of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) Supervisor to support their team in Port Washington, NY. This individual will be responsible for providing advanced clinical oversight, supervision, and support to Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare staff, ensuring that all healthcare services meet regulatory standards and are delivered with compassion, professionalism, and a focus on person-centered care. The NP Supervisor plays a key leadership role in developing care plans, ensuring compliance, and improving health outcomes for individuals served.
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $135,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to Nurse Practitioners (NPs), RNs, and other healthcare providers
- Monitor and evaluate clinical performance, ensuring that all care meets organizational, state, and federal standards
- Conduct regular case reviews to ensure quality care, appropriate clinical decisions, and adherence to best practices
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training NPs and nursing staff to build a strong and competent healthcare team
- Perform comprehensive medical assessments and develop individualized care plans for individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring a focus on holistic and person-centered care
- Provide direct patient care as needed, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate medical, behavioral, and therapeutic services that address the diverse needs of individuals
- Oversee and review medication management, ensuring appropriate administration, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Evaluate and approve treatment plans developed by NPs and ensure timely updates based on changes in individuals’ health status
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and agency regulations (e.g., OPWDD, CMS, DOH)
- Lead efforts in infection control, safety protocols, and emergency procedures to safeguard individuals and staff
- Conduct regular audits and chart reviews to assess quality of care, documentation accuracy, and compliance with established protocols
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure consistency in healthcare delivery
- Act as a liaison between the healthcare team, families, and external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss care plans, medical updates, and overall well-being of individuals
- Educate and empower families, caregivers, and staff on medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive care
Job Requirements
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) in NY.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health, or similar populations
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to developmental disabilities and healthcare
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation best practices
- Excellent clinical judgment, diagnostic, and critical thinking abilities
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
