About the Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in commodities trading, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to steer strategic initiatives from initiation to closure in their New York office. This is a high-impact role owning all aspects of project delivery and providing cross-functional leadership across trading, operations, risk, finance, business change, and IT.
The annual base salary is up to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end project delivery—including scope, planning, scheduling, budgeting, quality, risk, issue, dependency management, and benefits realization
- Mobilize projects rapidly by confirming outcomes, establishing governance, and translating strategy to credible, actionable plans
- Build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships across trading, operations, risk, finance, and IT
- Lead resource coordination, dependency management, RAID logs, budget and benefit tracking, and concise executive reporting via working groups and Steering Committees
- Maintain single source of truth for project status with clear, executive-ready updates and consistent communication
- Proactively identify risks/issues with data-driven recommendations to drive a no-surprises environment
- Oversee third-party vendor management, including SOWs, deliverables, acceptance, and change control
- Guide project health checks and re-baseline challenged projects with credible recovery plans
- Collaborate with Business Change and other partners for effective handover, adoption, and training
- Set pace and project management standards, coaching delivery teams and modeling pragmatic practices
Job Requirements
- Significant IT project management experience (15+ years strongly preferred), including hands-on delivery in commodity trading or financial services environments
- Deep understanding of the trade lifecycle and experience working closely with middle- and back-office functions
- Hands-on experience with IT trading applications and multi-location, cross-functional project teams
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects in global organizations
- Experience managing software vendors and external partners to clear outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to recover and re-baseline distressed projects
- Experience managing Agile project delivery and geographically dispersed delivery teams
- Proficiency with Jira, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Teams, and core Office Suite tools
- Strong project management skills—RAID, dependency management, financial control, planning and scheduling, change management
- Highly autonomous, outcome-focused, and pragmatic; strong organization, communication, and stakeholder management skills (including C-level exposure)
- Calm under pressure, able to work hands-on as required for project success
- Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus
