About the Opportunity
Our client, a rapidly expanding fintech platform, is seeking a Senior Director to join their New York City team in a hybrid capacity. This highly visible leadership position is responsible for driving strategic technology delivery, building a best-in-class Technical Program Management function, and ensuring the successful execution of the company’s top-priority technology initiatives. The role offers significant cross-functional influence and growth potential as the business scales.
The annual base salary range is $220,000 to $230,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the technology portfolio, providing comprehensive visibility into program status, priorities, execution strategies, risks, and value delivery
- Partner with executive and technology leadership to define, plan, resource, and sequence strategic initiatives and develop robust execution roadmaps
- Build and lead a high-performing team of Technical Program Managers, establishing standards for portfolio governance, reporting, and communication
- Drive program delivery excellence, decomposing large initiatives into actionable workstreams, deliverables, and well-defined success criteria
- Coordinate with Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, Security, Data, and Business teams to sequence work, track progress, manage dependencies, and resolve blockers
- Implement consistent governance practices, milestone tracking, executive dashboards, and reporting processes to ensure timely decision making and outcome achievement
- Guide the organization in release management, operational readiness, SDLC/DevOps best practices, and cross-functional delivery tooling (including Jira, Confluence, and GitHub)
- Define and measure key performance metrics for delivery effectiveness, predictability, and risk exposure using modern data and AI-enabled tools
- Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, transparency, and continuous improvement across teams and delivery practices
- Mentor and empower program management staff as the organization evolves
Job Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience leading complex technology programs, portfolios, or enterprise delivery initiatives
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Technical Program or Delivery Managers, PMO organizations, or similar teams within a software-driven environment
- Background in hands-on technical disciplines (software engineering, architecture, or technical analysis preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale technology projects with multiple teams, systems, and stakeholders
- Advanced knowledge of software delivery lifecycle, planning, and governance frameworks
- Strong project planning, forecasting, dependency management, and risk mitigation skills
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with engineering and business leadership
- Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, portfolio planning, roadmap management, and reporting tools
Preferred Skills
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or regulated technology sectors
- Familiarity with payment operations, transaction processing, or financial technology platforms
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and infrastructure automation practices
- Prior experience building or transforming TPM or Program Management organizations
- Professional certifications (PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum, or similar) a plus
