Substance Abuse Treatment Nurse (RN)

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Substance Abuse Registered Nurse (RN) to join our client’s Outpatient Clinic team located in Queens, New York. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to patients, coordinate treatment plans, and ensure a seamless connection with our affiliated inpatient hospital with early shifts (MWF 5am-1:30pm / TTF 6am-2:30 with a rotating Saturday and a day off during the week). This position requires clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

The annual base salary starts at $80,000 – $90,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop personalized care plans. Evaluate patients’ substance abuse history and current usage
  • Administer prescribed addiction treatment medications and monitor for adverse reactions. Educate patients about their medications
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention
  • Develop and implement safety plans for at-risk patients
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other clinic staff to deliver integrated care and optimize patient outcomes
  • Facilitate referrals to specialists, diagnostic services
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with nursing practices, clinical guidelines, and healthcare innovations

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in NY
  • Previous experience dealing with the substance abuse population
  • Knowledge of outpatient care protocols, and emergency response procedures
