About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global financial institution with a strong presence in the U.S., is seeking an experienced Vice President to join its Non-Financial Risk Management team in New York City. This group plays a critical role in overseeing enterprise-wide non-financial risk, ensuring consistent frameworks and processes are applied across all lines of business. The ideal candidate will help enhance the design and integration of the firm’s risk management framework, driving a unified approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational and non-financial risks across the organization.
The annual base salary range is $137,000 to $185,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and challenge the identification, assessment, management, and reporting of non-financial risks across front office business areas, including capital markets and investment banking
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, embedding a strong risk culture and ensuring alignment with the organization’s risk appetite and regulatory standards
- Drive a consistent approach to non-financial risk management, including the evaluation and reporting of risk events, issues, and control self-assessments across multiple business lines
- Collaborate with front office teams to refine and enhance key risk and performance indicators within defined risk domains
- Partner with control and support functions to monitor the firm’s risk profile, raising awareness of emerging risks and ensuring adherence to policies and standards
- Support the ongoing enhancement and execution of the non-financial risk management framework
- Maintain and update risk management policies and standards in line with industry best practices
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments, process reviews, and gap analyses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions
- Track and monitor remediation plans to ensure timely resolution of material issues and closure of control gaps
- Govern core areas of the risk framework, which may include scenario analysis, material risk identification, process mapping, control testing, and risk assessments
- Partner with team members to support new risk initiatives and adapt to evolving regulatory requirements
- Develop risk analytics capabilities to monitor trends, track exposures, and identify emerging risks across the business
- Stay up to date on industry developments and regulatory focus areas in non-financial risk management
- Participate in and contribute to risk governance forums and committees, providing input on risk themes and management practices
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or relevant operations/finance roles
- Familiarity with corporate and investment banking as well as capital markets
- Strong knowledge of non-financial risk management concepts, including control self-assessments, risk events, issue management, and key risk indicators
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships
- Highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives
- Strong project management and process improvement skills
- Experience with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools; knowledge of Archer is a plus
- Solid understanding of regulatory requirements within the financial services industry
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of integrity and professional ethics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel
