About the Opportunity
Our client, a fast-growing global investment firm specializing in asset-based credit solutions, is seeking a Vice President of Tax to lead the entire tax function across management company, fund, and affiliated entities. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this executive role offers full ownership of U.S. and international compliance, reporting, and structuring for complex credit strategies and SPVs. The position is based in New York City.
The annual base salary range is $150,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
Job Responsibilities
- Direct end-to-end tax compliance for management company, funds, and affiliated SPVs, covering federal, state, local, and non-U.S. filings
- Oversee all partnership and corporate tax processes, working with external advisors and fund administrators
- Manage preparation and review of K-1s, investor tax packages, 1065/1120 returns, estimates, FATCA/CRS reporting, and projections
- Advise on tax structuring, planning, modeling, and fund launches (onshore/offshore), including credit products, loan origination, and carried interest structures
- Review specialized filings/elections (FBAR, PTE, commercial rent tax, etc.) and entity formation documentation
- Support financial statement preparation, overseeing tax accruals and disclosures
- Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, legal, investor relations, operations, compliance, and investment teams to streamline information flow and support transaction execution
- Drive process improvements, stronger controls, and technology adoption for scalability
- Research technical tax positions and support special projects, staying current on developments impacting complex funds and global structures
- Manage competing priorities and deliverables with accuracy, professionalism, and clear communication
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 7-10 years of progressive tax experience; CPA strongly preferred
- Deep experience in private credit/loan products, closed-end fund structures with carry, and management company/GP tax matters
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
